May General Meeting

Friday, May 5, 2017

May is a busy month for the Harsimus Cove Association!
Join us on Monday, May 8 at 7:30 PM for our meeting at Grace Church Van Vorst to learn about the senior and disabled property tax reimbursement program, commonly called the Senior Freeze, directly from a NJ Division of Taxation representative.
Please help us spread the word to any senior citizen or disabled homeowners worried about a property tax increase. No need to RSVP, just come. All are welcome!

At Monday’s meeting we will also welcome Green Villain to see their vision for the redevelopment of the Bergen Arches, receive an update on the project at 264 Bay Street, and discuss general association business.

In advance of our meeting, on Sunday, May 7, HCA will host its 1st Annual Harsimus Cove Stoop Sale. We hope to see you out and about!

Finally, a special thanks to all who volunteered at HCA’s 2nd Annual Great Harsimus Cove Clean-Up. Volunteers picked up litter along most of our neighborhood’s streets and sidewalks and then gathered to celebrate our efforts with breakfast from Wonder Bagels. Check out our album here.

Want to get involved? The HCA Board of Directors and Committees are seeking additional members. C’mon, don’t you want to join this group of civically engaged neighbors?

If joining the Board of Directors or a Committee sounds daunting, we also need volunteers, especially a graphic designer and an accountant, to assist with one-off projects. Email us at to get involved!

See you around the neighborhood,
Rebecca Symes
Harsimus Cove Association President
P.S. Don’t forget: a portion of the proceeds from Sunday’s HCA Stoop Sale will be donated to assist refugee families who have resettled in Jersey City, so shop till you drop while meeting your neighbors! See you Sunday, May 7!
