Neighbors Helping Neighbors Initiative
From Mayor Steven Fulop
January 17, 2014
Each small act of kindness is significant in times of need and goes a long way to strengthen our community. This new initiative, launched together with the Resident’s Response Center, seeks to provide assistance to those residents who are unable to cope with the harsh conditions that come with the winter season through a community network of volunteers. We are urging community members to reach out to those who are elderly or ill, or have other needs for assistance, during the aftermath of winter storms and other critical emergencies. One hundred residents have already contacted the RRC to volunteer to help shovel and provide assistance to seniors and other neighbors. All Jersey City residents who are willing to volunteer are encouraged to send an email that includes your name, address, email and phone number to the Resident’s Response Center at RRC@JCNJ.ORG. The RRC will inform interested volunteers about opportunities to assist neighbors in need. Volunteers or residents with questions can also call the Resident’s Response Center at (201) 547-4900.
