October General Meeting

Saturday, October 7, 2017

Hello neighbors,

Our first meeting of the Fall season is this coming Monday, October 9, at 7:30 PM at Grace Church Van Vorst (Erie and Second Streets). We’ll have a light agenda, highlighted by updates from the Safe Streets JC Mayoral Streets Forum and and various hurricane and earthquake relief efforts underway in our neighborhood.

As always, we have a number of neighborhood events coming up, and we hope you get a chance to participate in a few.

First up, Halloween is just around the corner, so get your costumes ready for the 7th Annual Afternoon of Fright on Fourth Street, our annual block party co-hosted by the Jersey 4th and 5th Block Association. Taking place on Saturday, October 28 from 2 to 6 PM, Afternoon of Fright will turn 4th Street between Jersey and Coles into a fun, kid-friendly zone with music, arts and crafts, leaf jump, face painting, a bouncy castle, and more! It’s a great afternoon for the whole family, especially the little ones.

On a more serious note, Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria and the earthquake in Mexico cast a dark shadow over the people in their paths. As I’m sure you’ve seen, many are still dealing with the aftermath. If you’d like to help with the relief efforts in Puerto Rico, the City of Jersey City has partnered with the Governor's office of Puerto Rico to get aid to our friends there.
